Peru returns to live the maximum adrenaline on wheels! After several years of absence, the Peruvian coasts will once again host the 2018 Dakar Rally, the most competitive and famous motor event in the world, which promises to surprise its fans in its 40th world edition.
Lima will be the starting point of the Dakar 2018, where hundreds of pilots will cross the Peruvian south, crossing its impressive dunes, then travel through the highland country of Bolivia and end the motoring party in the province of Córdoba in Argentina.
The event will start next January 6 and will run until the 20th of the same month, being the latest rally of the ten editions that is celebrated in South America.
On the other hand, the last time that Peru was part of this automobile competition, more than 20 thousand people, among assistants, pilots and technical team visited the city of Paracas, generating income of US $ 2 million, said Eduardo Jáuregui, president Of the Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade of Paracas.
And for this new edition, he estimates commercial movements that surpass the US $ 3 million in the southern city.
Regarding competitors’ travel, the necessary measures are being taken not to jeopardize the cultural heritage. No vehicle may enter the Paracas National Reserve; Consequently, the desert will cross the road parallel to the South Pan-American.
He also said that Paracas is the perfect setting for the Dakar, for its desert and dunes, where they develop such sporting activities.
